Salary: $26 - $32 (DOE)

Job Summary: The Mechanical Maintenance Technician Level I is an entry-level position responsible for assisting with maintenance, repair, and installation of mechanical equipment in industrial environments. This role focuses on learning safe work practices, basic mechanical skills, and supporting senior technicians and supervisors.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Assist with routine maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment.
  • Learn to recognize and eliminate workplace hazards.
  • Utilize hand and power tools safely and effectively.
  • Assist with inspection, installation, and servicing of pumps, valves, and drive systems.
  • Support material handling, rigging, lubrication, and equipment setup activities.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and paperwork related to work performed.
  • Perform fire watch duties when required.
  • Follow company safety policies and wear required PPE.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Mechanical Entry level of knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and

maintenance.

  • Customer and Personal Service Some knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and

personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and

evaluation of customer satisfaction.

  • Public Safety and Security Some knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to

promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and

institutions.

  • Troubleshooting, critical thinking, problem solving skills, and quality control analysis are required skills.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical tools and equipment.
  • Entry-level knowledge of pumps, drive systems, valves, and testing instruments.
  • Basic construction-related math skills.
  • Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings with training.
  • Must be able to read and communicate in English to understand technical documents, safety procedures, and instructions relevant to job duties. English proficiency is required due to operational and safety communication needs.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of industrial mechanical maintenance technician experience.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work in hot, cold, humid, and outdoor environments.
  • Ability to walk, stand, climb, bend, and lift for extended periods.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to approximately 35 pounds.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment for extended periods.
  • Ability to work 812 hour shifts, including weekends when required.
