How much do entry level polymer research scientist jobs pay per year?

As of Jun 16, 2026, the average yearly pay for entry level polymer research scientist in the United States is $130,117.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $107,500.00 and $173,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an Entry Level Polymer Research Scientist, and why are they important?

To thrive as an Entry Level Polymer Research Scientist, you need a solid background in chemistry, materials science, or chemical engineering, typically supported by a bachelor's or master's degree in a relevant field. Familiarity with laboratory techniques, analytical instruments (such as FTIR, NMR, and DSC), and data analysis software is highly valued. Strong problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and effective teamwork are essential soft skills in this role. These competencies enable accurate experimentation, innovative research, and successful collaboration in advancing polymer science projects.

What are some typical projects an Entry Level Polymer Research Scientist might work on during their first year?

As an Entry Level Polymer Research Scientist, you can expect to be involved in projects such as synthesizing new polymer materials, characterizing their physical and chemical properties, and evaluating their performance for specific applications. You may assist in designing experiments, analyzing data, and preparing technical reports under the guidance of senior scientists. Collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engineers and product development specialists, is common, helping you build a strong foundation in both laboratory techniques and project teamwork.

Is it entry or entery?

The correct term for starting level positions, including an Entry Level Polymer Research Scientist role, is 'entry,' not 'entery.' There is no such term as 'entery' in job titles or descriptions. Using 'entry' accurately reflects a beginner or junior level position in the field.

Is it entree or entry?

The correct term for the job level is 'entry' level, as in Entry Level Polymer Research Scientist. This indicates a position suitable for candidates with little to no professional experience in polymer science or related fields. The term 'entree' is unrelated and refers to a main course in a meal.

What does an Entry Level Polymer Research Scientist do?

An Entry Level Polymer Research Scientist typically works in laboratories to study and develop new polymer materials or improve existing ones. Their responsibilities may include conducting experiments, analyzing data, preparing samples, and collaborating with other scientists. They often assist with research projects aimed at discovering better plastics, rubbers, and other polymer-based products used in industries like healthcare, automotive, and packaging. This position is ideal for recent graduates with a background in chemistry, materials science, or chemical engineering who are interested in hands-on scientific research.

What does entry mean?

In the context of an entry level polymer research scientist position, 'entry' indicates a role suitable for candidates with limited professional experience, often requiring a bachelor's degree in chemistry, materials science, or a related field. It typically involves supervised work, skill development, and may require basic knowledge of polymers, laboratory techniques, and relevant tools or software.

What is the synonym of entry?

In the context of an Entry Level Polymer Research Scientist position, a synonym for 'entry' is 'initial' or 'beginner,' indicating a role suitable for those starting their career with limited experience. Such roles often require foundational knowledge of polymers, laboratory skills, and may serve as a stepping stone to more advanced research positions.
