Job description

Looking for a candidate with general (entry-level) construction and carpentry experience. Must be comfortable with working over the water. Experience driving a boat, either professionally or recreationally, is preferred, but training can be done on the job. Must have a valid Driver's License; travel around Hampton Roads to different job sites is required for this job. 1 week of personal time is offered after 90 days of employment, another week and 3 days after 1 year of employment. Health, dental, and vision benefits are available the first of the month after 60 days. Contributions to a 401K can be made after a year of employment. Positions start at $17 per hour with the ability to grow. Salary can be discussed based on experience.

General Labor Duties and Responsibilities

  • Unload tools, prepare building site materials, stack building materials, and set up equipment
  • Safely operate pushboats.
  • Follow project instructions from construction manager or supervisor
  • Direct traffic safely around the construction or road maintenance site
  • Use construction and maintenance tools and equipment to complete daily tasks
  • Follow all health and safety regulations when operating equipment
  • Ensure regulated and proper headgear, ear plugs, gloves, safety glasses and clothing are worn
  • Complete all assigned tasks in a timely and efficient manner
  • Assist in building scaffolding and temporary structures
  • Safely operate a variety of tools including pressure washers, drills, saws, and grinders
  • Provide assistance to contractors (i.e. craft workers, electricians, painters) as needed
  • Clean and clear debris and hazardous materials
  • Ensure construction equipment and tools are cleaned and stored properly
