Description
At Gold Star, we offer feed and nutrition services and commodity trading in the northeastern U.S., primarily to dairies. As feed and commodity specialists, our customers count on us to originate feed for the mills, manufacture it according to their unique specifications and handle logistics for a safe and smooth delivery every time.
Job Summary:
The Maintenance Technician will ensure safe and efficient plant operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with people internal and external to the mill.
  • Complete all assigned trainings on time.
  • Willingness and ability to utilize computer-based programs/systems as required.
  • Willingness and ability to lead projects from quote to completion.
  • Willingness and ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, multi-task, and prioritize based on business needs.
  • Serve as an integral part of the plant Safety Team.
  • Utilize and accurately fill out all necessary permits prior to performing work.
  • Follow and perform preventative maintenance schedules on all equipment (ex. motors, bearings, bucket elevators, hydraulics, pumps, compressors, drag and screw augers etc.)
  • Rebuild rolls, reducers, gear boxes and other mill equipment.
  • Perform the steps needed to repair unplanned break-downs including partnering with external support such as our Automation Vendor etc..
  • Report any EHS, Quality or Feed Safety concerns to the Plant Manager/Mill Foreman
  • On-call support
  • Overtime as needed.
  • Drive a culture of safety, accountability, opportunistic curiosity and contributes to creating an environment where people want to work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 3 years of Industrial Mechanical Maintenance experience
  • Strong understanding of electricity, pneumatics, and hydraulics

Desired Qualifications:
  • Feed Mill equipment and automation experience (WEM, Beta Raven etc..)
  • OSHA 10
  • EL2 Certification
  • HVAC Certification
  • Welding Certification
  • Experience with PLC

Physical Demands:
  • Indoor/outdoor mill setting with exposure to dust, noise, and temperature changes.
  • Fast-paced team environment with a strong focus on safety, cleanliness, and quality.
  • Employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 60 pounds, climb 75 feet of ladder, and be able to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
  • May require working on a rotating shift or weekends depending on production needs.
  • Regular and predictable attendance in office or site location
