Kitsap Mental Health Services (KMHS) is seeking a Medical Assistant (Certified) to support psychiatric providers and clients receiving behavioral health services. This role helps keep care coordinated, organized, and responsive to client needs. The work includes both direct clinical support and administrative responsibilities that contribute to quality care and accurate health records. Primary Responsibilities:

Obtain and document vital signs, perform venipuncture, administer injections, complete lab orders, conduct CLIA-waived testing, and track lab results as directed by medical providers.
Submit and monitor prior authorizations and assist with medication refill requests.
Utilize approved systems and resources to obtain records, review laboratory results, verify insurance coverage, enter required data, and monitor controlled substance prescriptions.
Communicate relevant health information to care team members at the direction of the medical provider.
Gather, track, and accurately enter health information into the electronic medical record.
Support coordination between psychiatric providers, primary care providers, specialists, hospitals, inpatient facilities, and emergency departments.
Build and maintain effective connections across KMHS programs and levels of care to support continuity of treatment.
Manage scheduling needs for assigned medical providers.
Provide education and information that supports client understanding of health conditions and self-management.

Minimum Qualifications:

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED and Completion of Medical Assistant training program.

EXPERIENCE: Entry level (no prior related work experience)

LICENSURE: Current Medical Assistant-Certified (MA-C) credential with Washington State Department of Health. AAC (Agency Affiliated Counselor) certification with WA State required within 60 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

EXPERIENCE: Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)

Experience with EMR and data tracking and ability to read data reports.

Performance Requirements:

KNOWLEDGE:

  1. Maintain basic knowledge of health related practices and make recommendations regarding process and content improvements.
  2. Familiarity with outpatient medical clinic operations to facilitate the establishment of positive and productive relationships with medical practice staff throughout the community.

SKILLS:

  1. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, clients, organizations, and the public.
  2. Experience with venipuncture and intramuscular injections.
  3. Strong organizational skills are required to prioritize a variety of work assignments.
  4. Communication Communicates clearly and concisely.
  5. Computer skills - Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office environments.

Abilities:

  1. Ability to work within interdisciplinary teams on behalf of complex clients with extensive behavioral care needs.
  2. Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member.
  3. The ability to operate a personal computer, fax machine, printer, and copier proficiently.

Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.

Work Environment: Frequent mobility and/or sitting required for extended periods.

Mental/Physical Requirements: While performing the job duties, the employee must walk, sit, use hands and fingers, reach with arms, talk, or listen. Requires the ability to lift up to 10 pounds. This position also requires close vision and peripheral vision.

*A sign-on bonus is a form of compensation for a new employee in addition to their established salary. Bonus amounts are prorated by FTE, and any changes to FTE before all bonus installments are paid may alter the total payout.
