Job description

Entry Level Software Engineer

Company:

The successful candidate for this Entry Level Software Engineer position will join the B-2 Software team located at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City, OK and will focus on supporting the Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) business organization. The engineer will play a crucial role in designing, developing, testing, and maintaining software utilizing Jira and GitLab throughout the lifecycle that meets industry, customer, and safety standards for the B-2 bomber program. The Software Engineer will collaborate with a diverse engineering team to design, develop, and deploy operational flight software used on the B-2. Your expertise will be instrumental in developing, maintaining, enhancing, and optimizing system and subsystem components and functionalities within the B-2 software that fall under Boeing responsibility. Additionally, you will be a system and subsystem resource to team members, who will debug and resolve issues identified to ensure the reliability and efficiency of software products.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assists with the design, development, test, and maintenance of non-embedded software throughout the software lifecycle that meets industry, customer, safety, and regulation standards

  • Supporting software development on Agile teams which are tasked with integrating/implementing solutions onto a platform

  • Uses analytical problem-solving skills to resolve problems for the company

  • Uses engineering skills to deliver improved weapon system capabilities to our customers

  • Applies engineering knowledge to continuously improve processes and tools

  • Applies knowledge of engineering principles to conduct analyses

  • Gathers information to review, analyze, and translate system level requirements into an initial design of software products

  • Assists with development, maintenance, enhancement, and optimization of software products and functionalities for systems integrations

  • Assists with development, documentation and maintenance of architectures, requirements, algorithms, interfaces, and designs for software products

  • Assists with debugging and resolution of issues identified to ensure the reliability and efficiency of software products

  • Participates in handling user inquiries, troubleshooting technical issues and user feedback analysis

  • Assists to develop, establish, monitor, and improve software processes, tools and key performance metrics that align projects with organizational goals and industry benchmarks

  • Provides information to execute and document software research and development project

  • Gathers information to perform software project management activities and software supplier management functions

  • Assists totrack and evaluate software team and supplier performance to ensure product and process compliance to project plans and industry standards

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Ability to obtain a Secret U.S. Security clearance (Post-Start)

  • Bachelor's Degree

  • Experience developing and using any of the following languages: C, C++

  • This position is located in Oklahoma City, OK. Candidates must be able to relocate if not already living in the local area.

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), chemistry, physics, mathematics, data science, or computer science and 0 years of related work experience OR Bachelor's Degree and 4+ years of directly related work experience OR 8+ years of related, relevant experience

  • Experience developing embedded real-time software and hardware

  • Experience working with Real-time Operating Systems (RTOS)

  • Experience developing models and simulation

  • Experience with Agile software development

  • Experience with modern software development tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Git)

  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate with stakeholders of different backgrounds and skill levels
