Job description

What we are looking for

We are looking for an Entry-level Scientist or Geologist to join our Environmental Services team in northeast Florida. This position will include both field and office work, with approximately 60% fieldwork and travel expected. Field work will include conducting site visits for Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), soil and groundwater sampling, and contractor oversight. Office work will include data analysis, site assessment report writing, and Phase I ESA report writing.

If you are self-motivated, eager to learn, and have the desire to develop professionally then this position could be for you.  You will report to a Project Manager in the Jacksonville, Florida area. Please note this is a hybrid position.

How you can make an impact
  • Performing routine field activities including sample collection (soil, groundwater), drilling oversight, well development, soil logging, and site inspections.
  • Preparing written documents (field notes and forms, permits, work plans, health & safety plans, etc.) in a clear and concise manner.
  • Assisting with the preparation of technical reports, including preparing tabulated data and figures, using good time management.
  • Assisting with the preparation of Phase I ESA Reports with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Completing quality control reviews on all work products (reports, calculations, data, etc.) before submission.
  • Coordinating with contractors, subcontractors, laboratories, and regulators.
  • Preparing permit applications and regulatory agency submittals and responses with supporting documentation.
  • Preparing short-form site specific health and safety plans.
  • Completing field and office assignments in a quality and safe manner.
  • Pursuing technical improvement for self and company.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in geology, engineering, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 3 months of relevant environmental internship, work and/research experience required.
  • Microsoft Office software knowledge and fluency required. 
  • Experience with environmental monitoring and GPS field equipment preferred.
  • Completion of 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training preferred, or willingness to complete this training upon employment.
  • Ability to perform fieldwork including lifting up to 50 pounds and standing for long periods of time required.
  • Valid, unrestricted driver's license with a driving record in good standing required.
