Position Title: Entry Level Designer
Location: Columbus, OH
Position Status: Full Time
Pay Rate: $22/hour
Position Description:
This is an entry-level Engineering Technologist role focused on applying technical skills to evaluate options and design safe, cost-effective, and reliable facilities for residential, commercial, and industrial projects. Under supervision and mentoring, the incumbent will learn and apply client design workflows, data entry, and technical skills related to power distribution and electrical facility installations. Responsibilities include adhering to safety policies, applying codes and regulations, preparing project packages, job site visits, and communicating job status. The role requires developing technical proficiency with design software and supporting both internal and external customer goals professionally.
Required Skills/Education:
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Associate's degree preferred; Bachelor's degree in non-engineering science, math, or business is also preferred.
  • 0-1 year experience in power distribution engineering, craft, GIS, or CAD work.
  • Ability to read and interpret procedural documents and write basic correspondence.
  • Basic math skills including fractions, percentages, ratios, algebra, and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions and handle standardized situations.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, technically competent, and a team player with effective communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver's license and suitable vehicle for business use (mileage reimbursed).
  • Ability to participate in storm restoration activities if needed.
