Job Description

QOS Fiber is hiring entry-level and experienced Fiber Technicians to support fiber optic construction, splicing, and testing in Outside Plant (OSP) environments. No experience is required. Paid training is provided.

This position involves hands-on work installing, splicing, and testing fiber optic cable for telecommunications networks. Candidates will work in the field, support construction crews, and learn industry-standard fiber splicing and testing practices.

This is a traveling construction position with consistent hours, overtime opportunities, and long-term career growth in a high-demand industry.

Key Responsibilities

Perform fiber optic cable installation, splicing, and testing in OSP environments. Assist with cable preparation, fiber terminations, and enclosure builds. Learn and operate fiber testing equipment including OTDRs and power meters. Follow construction prints, job specifications, and Methods of Procedure. Support troubleshooting and maintenance of fiber optic networks. Complete daily production reports, material tracking, and job documentation. Communicate with supervisors and team members regarding job progress. Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment. Follow all OSHA, DOT, and company safety standards.

Training and Advancement

Paid training is provided for entry-level candidates. Employees will develop skills in fiber optic splicing, testing, and telecommunications construction. Advancement opportunities include Fiber Splicer, Lead Technician, and Foreman roles based on performance.

Requirements

No experience required. Training provided. Candidates must have a strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to travel. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions is required. Applicants must be able to lift up to 100 pounds and perform physical labor. Basic mechanical aptitude is preferred. A valid driver's license is required. CDL is preferred or willing to obtain.

Work Environment

Work is performed outdoors in construction environments including underground and aerial fiber installation. Exposure to varying weather conditions is expected. Use of hand tools, power tools, and fiber optic testing equipment is required. Color vision is required for fiber identification.
