Position Summary

The Parts Department team supports the Body Shop by accurately ordering, receiving, tracking, and distributing automotive parts. The ideal candidate will provide a high level of customer service while working closely with technicians, vendors, and other dealership employees.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming parts and verify that the correct items were received from vendors.
  • Work closely with Body Shop technicians to confirm that the correct parts have been ordered and delivered.
  • Promptly notify appropriate staff members of part arrivals, shortages, delays, backorders, or other concerns.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the specialized requirements involved in Body Shop parts ordering.
  • Review estimates provided by the Body Shop or its customers to accurately identify the parts needed.
  • Obtain required parts from available inventory, vendors, or other approved sources.
  • Make every effort to have parts available when requested by using cost-effective purchasing methods, careful planning, accurate ordering, and clear communication.
  • Maintain an accurate inventory of parts that have been delivered and are awaiting installation or repair work.
  • Complete all required computer system entries, invoices, records, and paperwork to ensure parts are billed correctly.
  • Promptly return parts that were ordered or delivered but were not used by the Body Shop.
  • Work closely with the Shipping and Receiving Department to quickly reorder parts that were damaged during transit.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
