Job description

Job Title: Oil & Gas Landman (West Texas โ€“ Plains Preferred)
Position Type: Full-Time (Contract)

Location Requirement:
Candidates must reside in West Texas, with strong preference given to those based in or near Plains, TX and surrounding counties.


Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Oil & Gas Landman to support ongoing projects in West Texas. This role will focus on title research, ownership analysis, and field courthouse work as needed. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, reliable, and experienced in West Texas title with the ability to work independently and communicate effectively with project teams.


Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct title research and analysis for oil and gas projects
  • Run title at county courthouses and/or online systems
  • Prepare accurate run sheets, ownership reports, and mineral ownership chains
  • Analyze leases, deeds, and other land records
  • Identify ownership discrepancies and resolve title issues
  • Communicate regularly with project managers regarding progress and findings
  • Maintain organized and thorough documentation of all research

Qualifications
  • Prior experience as an Oil & Gas Landman (West Texas experience required)
  • Strong knowledge of Texas oil and gas title standards and practices
  • Experience working in county courthouses and/or online title systems
  • Ability to read and interpret legal documents (deeds, leases, probate, etc.)
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote/field setting
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Based in or near Plains, TX
  • Familiarity with Yoakum County and surrounding counties
  • Experience with due diligence or HBP projects
  • Availability for courthouse field work as needed
