This role is ideal for someone who has progressed beyond entry-level network support (L1) and is ready to take on more hands-on responsibilities with routing, switching, and troubleshooting. The position offers a mix of project work, operational support, and equipment deployment in a dynamic environment undergoing ongoing infrastructure upgrades.

This individual will spend approximately half their time contributing to network-related projects, with the remaining time focused on troubleshooting, issue resolution, and preparing network equipment for deployment. The environment includes recent and ongoing initiatives such as SD-WAN implementation, wireless upgrades, and evolving Cisco-based infrastructure.

POSITION: NETWORK ENGINEER LEVEL 2 (MID-LEVEL)

LOCATION: ARLINGTON, TX

DURATION: 3 MONTH CONTRACT TO PERMANENT

SALARY: 75-80K

Responsibilities:

  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot routers, switches, VPN tunnels, and related network infrastructure across multiple locations
  • Diagnose and resolve connectivity issues, including port-level troubleshooting and traffic analysis
  • Support network projects such as hardware upgrades, SD-WAN enhancements, and wireless deployments
  • Monitor network performance and implement adjustments to improve reliability and efficiency
  • Deploy and stage network equipment for new site builds or replacements
  • Implement and maintain firewall rules, security controls, and firmware updates
  • Document configurations, network changes, and incident resolutions while communicating updates to stakeholders

Required Skills:

  • 2–4 years of hands-on networking experience, including progression from an L1 support role
  • Strong understanding of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking concepts, including routing, switching, and TCP/IP
  • Experience configuring routers and switches, including VLANs, redundancy, and traffic identification
  • Familiarity with WAN technologies such as MPLS, SD-WAN, and site-to-site VPN configuration
  • Working knowledge of enterprise networking platforms (Cisco preferred), including exposure to Nexus and ACI environments
  • Ability to troubleshoot network issues end-to-end, including diagnosing connectivity and performance problems
  • Experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools, along with strong documentation and communication skills
