At a Glance

Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Jr. Network Infrastructure Engineer to join the Data Power and Control Team in Somerset, NJ in a hybrid capacity. This position is intended for candidate with foundational knowledge in networking and a clear desire to grow into a senior network infrastructure or systems engineering role. The Jr. Network Infrastructure Engineer supports the design, deployment, and maintenance of enterprise network environments, assists with troubleshooting connectivity and performance issues, and contributes to infrastructure reliability under the guidance of senior engineers. The role emphasizes hands-on learning, documentation discipline, and gradual ownership of network responsibilities across a global footprint.

What Will You Do?

  • Assist with the configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure
  • Support troubleshooting of network incidents including connectivity, routing, and performance issues across LAN, WAN, and cloud-connected environments
  • Perform routine network operations tasks such as device configuration backups, firmware updates, and access control list reviews
  • Document network topology, change records, and incident resolutions clearly and accurately
  • Assist with the deployment and testing of new network segments, VLANs, and connectivity expansions
  • Follow established change management, security, and operational procedures for all network modifications
  • Escalate complex issues to senior engineers while maintaining ownership of assigned tasks through resolution
  • Participate in team knowledge sharing, on-call rotation support, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Deliver timely, critical support across multiple geographies, including the Americas, Europe, and Asia
  • Requires 5-10% travel

Education:

  • Associate or Bachelor degree in Network Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Working knowledge of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), and switching
  • Familiarity with network hardware from vendors such as Cisco, Juniper, or Palo Alto
  • Comfort using command line interfaces for network device configuration and diagnostics
  • Basic understanding of network security concepts including firewalls, ACLs, and VPNs
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with a methodical approach to problem solving
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills suitable for technical documentation and cross-team coordination
  • Consistent, reliable work habits with strong attention to detail

Preferred Skills/Knowledge:

  • Entry-level industry certification such as CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA, or Juniper JNCIA
  • Exposure to SD-WAN, MPLS, or cloud networking platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP)
  • Experience with network monitoring tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, or similar
  • Introductory experience with automation or scripting for network tasks (Python, Ansible, or similar)
  • Internship, lab work, or hands-on project experience in a network or infrastructure environment
