Staff Accountant, Financial Reporting

The Davis H. Elliot Company, Inc. is seeking a Staff Accountant, Financial Reporting, to support the accuracy, reliability, and integrity of the company's financial reporting processes.

This entry-level role supports monthly close activities, prepares account reconciliations, and assists with GAAP-based financial reporting while gaining hands-on experience in corporate accounting, internal controls, and audit support. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, eager to learn, and motivated to build a strong foundation in financial reporting.

Overview:

 

The Staff Accountant, Financial Reporting, plays an important role in supporting the company's financial close and reporting cycle. This position works closely with accounting leadership and crossfunctional partners to assist with general ledger activity, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. The role provides exposure to GAAP compliance, financial analysis, and external audit coordination, offering growth opportunities for developing accounting professionals.

A Day in the Life:

 

  • Assist with monthly and quarterly close activities, including preparing journal entries and supporting schedules
  • Support the preparation of GAAPcompliant financial statements and internal reporting packages
  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet account reconciliations and supporting documentation
  • Assist with variance analysis and investigation of reconciling items
  • Help maintain the general ledger by ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and timely
  • Compile financial data for management and internal reporting needs
  • Support external audit requests by gathering documentation and preparing schedules
  • Maintain organized records to support financial reporting and audit requirements
  • Collaborate with internal departments to obtain accurate financial information
  • Assist with improving accounting and reporting processes as experience grows
  • Perform other accounting and financial reporting duties as assigned

 

Qualifications & Skills:

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field
  • 0-2 years of accounting experience, including internships or coop experience
  • Basic understanding of financial accounting principles and GAAP
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problemsolving skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
