Job description

The Lab Tech I supports the production of veterinary biological products by performing essential laboratory procedures throughout the manufacturing process. This entry-level role is responsible for executing aseptic techniques, supporting cell culture operations, maintaining accurate documentation, and operating laboratory equipment while adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and company safety guidelines. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, eager to learn, and thrives in a fast-paced laboratory environment.


Responsibilities:

  • Perform laboratory procedures including aseptic techniques, media preparation, antigen inoculation and harvest, tissue culture preparation and harvest, and vaccine filling.
  • Support cell culture processes throughout the manufacturing cycle.
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment used in production activities.
  • Prepare, clean, and sterilize laboratory glassware, equipment, and work areas.
  • Maintain accurate and reliable laboratory documentation, including charts, logbooks, and production records.
  • Communicate unusual or non-routine observations to department supervision.
  • Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and all company safety policies.
  • Assist with equipment setup and routine laboratory operations.
  • Support virus propagation activities utilizing embryonic eggs as required.


Education:


Required: Bachelor's degree in a scientific discipline or High School diploma/equivalent with relevant laboratory or manufacturing experience.
Experience:


Required:

  • GMP experience.
  • Laboratory-based experience preferred but not required.
  • Experience working in aseptic or cleanroom environments.
  • Experience using laboratory equipment including pH meters, UniFuge centrifuges, and measuring devices.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Strong aseptic techniques and laboratory practices.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills.

Preferred:

  • Cell culture experience.
  • Scientific or laboratory background.
  • Prior SAP experience.
  • Knowledge of vaccine manufacturing or veterinary biological products.


Additional Information:

  • Shift: Stretch schedule consisting of 4 ten-hour days.
  • Candidates must successfully complete a physical abilities test prior to starting onsite.
  • Work involves handling hazardous materials including isopropyl alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, phenolic disinfectants, and oxidizers.
  • Position requires strict adherence to safety procedures and the use of aseptic techniques in a regulated laboratory environment.
  • Strong attention to detail, willingness to learn, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team are essential for success in this role.
