Description Electrician - City of West Allis Department of Public Works We're looking for a skilled Electrician to join our dedicated Public Works team and help keep our city shining, safe, and running strong. Grow your skills with training, development, and advancement opportunities in a supportive, team-focused environment. $2500 sign-on bonus What You'll Do Install, repair, and test electrical systems, including wiring, switches, panels, outlets, transformers, and lighting. Maintain and troubleshoot motors, generators, timing devices, and battery systems.

Perform routine maintenance-inspect, clean, lubricate, and adjust components. Locate underground cables using the Diggers Hotline Network. Diagnose issues in both low- and high-voltage systems using voltmeters, ohmmeters, meggers, and other tools.

Install and repair streetlight poles, underground cable runs, and beacon lights on City water towers. Inspect and maintain switches, transformers, and control cabinets. Read blueprints, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings accurately.

Estimate job costs, sketch circuits, and order required materials. Operate City vehicles safely and serve the public with professionalism. Communicate clearly, maintain reliable attendance, and assist with related duties as needed.

What You'll Bring Valid Journeyman or Master Electrician license. Strong work ethic, initiative, and accountability in every task. Solid teamwork and communication skills with an emphasis on emotional intelligence.

Thorough knowledge of electrical systems, tools, materials, and safety procedures. Familiarity with electrical codes, hazard prevention, and regulatory standards. Ability to interpret diagrams, blueprints, and technical drawings.
