What is an entry level media job?

Entry level media jobs are positions designed for individuals who are new to the media industry and often require little to no prior professional experience. These roles can include positions such as media assistant, production assistant, junior content creator, social media coordinator, or editorial assistant. Entry level media jobs typically involve supporting senior team members, handling administrative tasks, assisting with content creation, and learning the basics of media production, communication, or marketing. They provide valuable hands-on experience and serve as a stepping stone for advancing within the media industry.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as an entry level media professional?

To thrive as an Entry Level Media professional, you need a foundational understanding of media production, communication, and digital content creation, often supported by a relevant degree or internship experience. Familiarity with media editing software (such as Adobe Creative Suite), content management systems, and social media platforms is typically required. Strong organizational skills, creativity, and the ability to collaborate effectively help individuals stand out in this field. These competencies enable you to produce high-quality content, meet deadlines, and work efficiently within dynamic media environments.

What are some typical challenges faced by entry level media professionals, and how can they be effectively managed?

Entry-level media professionals often encounter challenges such as tight deadlines, handling multiple projects simultaneously, and adapting to rapidly changing technologies and trends. Navigating these challenges requires strong organizational skills, adaptability, and a willingness to learn from more experienced team members. Proactively seeking feedback, participating in training opportunities, and building a supportive professional network can help new hires manage stress and develop their expertise more quickly.

Job description

Media Advisor (Sales) – Print, Digital & Marketing Solutions

The Apopka Chief

About MARC Media

MARC Media Group is a privately held, growing media company focused on helping local businesses connect with their communities through radio, digital, print, and integrated marketing solutions. We are a values-driven organization committed to serving our employees, clients, and communities well.

This is not a typical sales job.

If you’re looking for a steady paycheck and a quiet desk… this isn’t it.

If you’re competitive, driven, and want to build a book of business that pays you long-term, keep reading.

MARC Media is growing, and we’re looking for experienced sales professionals who want to help local businesses grow while building a high-income career.

What You’ll Be Selling

You won’t be limited to one product.

You’ll provide real marketing solutions to local businesses, including:

  • Print + digital news platforms
  • Digital marketing (streaming, social, SEO, display, targeted ads)
  • Radio advertising across our stations
  • Fully integrated campaigns designed to deliver ROI

You’re not selling ads. You’re helping business owners grow.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Prospecting daily (in-person, phone, networking, referrals)
  • Building relationships with local business owners and decision-makers
  • Creating customized marketing strategies based on client needs
  • Presenting and closing new business
  • Growing and maintaining a long-term book of clients
  • Tracking activity and pipeline in CRM

Income & Compensation

Experienced Sellers

  • $60,000 – $150,000+ annual earning potential
  • Guaranteed $5,000/month base salary (with sales targets to achieve) during ramp-up period for experienced sellers, up to 12 months

  • Uncapped straight commission following

  • No cap on income

Entry Level Sellers

  • $40,000-$150,000+ annual earning potential

  • Base + Commission structure available

  • Transition to uncapped straight commission once commissions exceed base salary
  • No cap on income

If you can produce, you can earn!

What We’re Looking For

  • 2+ years of sales experience (required)

(Media sales is a plus, but not required)

  • Strong work ethic and self-motivation
  • Confidence, resilience, and ability to handle rejection
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to think strategically and solve business problems
  • Comfortable working independently and managing your own pipeline
  • Interest in marketing, advertising, and helping businesses grow

Who This Role Is For

  • Someone who wants control over their income
  • Someone who enjoys meeting new people and building relationships
  • Someone who sees sales as a long-term career, not a short-term job
  • Someone who is coachable, competitive, and driven

Who This Role Is NOT For

  • Someone waiting for leads to be handed to them
  • Someone who wants a fixed salary without performance expectations
  • Someone uncomfortable with prospecting or rejection

Why MARC Media

  • Locally owned and growing media company
  • Multiple platforms = bigger deals and better solutions
  • Strong presence in each local market we serve
  • A team culture focused on growth, accountability, and results

Benefits & Perks

  • Health, Dental, Vision Insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off & holidays
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Employee pricing on new & used vehicles + service (for you and your family, including in-laws)
  • Workplace Chaplain program available for employees and families
  • Supportive, values-driven culture

Additional Requirements

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass pre-employment screening
  • Monday–Friday schedule (occasional evenings/weekends as needed)

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable Accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

MARC Media is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace. We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity, Veteran status or other legally protected characteristics. We also consider qualified applicants regardless of criminal histories, consistent with legal requirements. We participate in the E-Verify program. Upon an applicant's request, MARC Media will consider reasonable accommodation to complete the application process.
