We are currently seeking anEnvironmental Engineer, Scientist, or Geologist Ifor our growing environmental consulting practice in our NYC office. The successful candidate will lead project and field work, including Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments/Investigations and preparation of Remedial Action Workplans in the NYC metropolitan area. The ideal candidate for this position is an enthusiastic, self-motivated individual who has at least 2 years of experience and is ready to take on project leadership and staff training. Strong interpersonal and writing skills are critical.
Salary range starts at $70,000
What you'll do
  • Complete site investigations to determine the nature and extent of contaminated soil, soil vapor, sediment, groundwater, and other media on a variety of sites, including public (parks, schools/universities, transit-related), residential, industrial. commercial, and private.
  • Complete Phase I Environmental Site Assessments
  • Participate in all aspects of site investigation and remediation, from preparation of workplans, conducting field work, writing summary reports, and final remedial documents
  • Assist with the preparation of technical reports, specifications, and plans; data management and evaluation; and environmental assessment and remediation;
  • The candidate will assist with training entry level staff
  • Field work will include oversight of subcontractors, including drillers and other laborersduring soil boring advancement, monitoring well installation, test pit installation, excavation activities, and remedial construction activities; and sampling various media including soil, groundwater, sediment, soil vapor, and air
  • Perform Phase 1 Environmental Site Assessments in accordance with ASTM E1527, supervise junior staff, and perform peer reviews of same.
  • Prepare summary reports including reviewing laboratory analytical data; interpreting and tabulating data and preparing tables; soil boring logs; figures; and text
  • Provide environmental construction field management, such as community air monitoring, soil management, remedial construction oversight, and more

  • BS in Environmental Engineering, or related engineering degree, or Environmental Science, Geology or related science degree
  • 2+ years of environmental consulting experience
  • Experience performing Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and Phase II Environmental Site Investigations, including soil, sediment, soil vapor, air, and groundwater sampling
  • Proficiency in logging borings and describing soil lithology based on the Burmister soil classification system
  • Working knowledge of NYSDEC Rules, Regulations and Guidance documents including DER-10, Part 360, and Part 375 Regulations
  • Knowledge of the principles and standards of scientific study, field investigation and sampling, and research and documentation
  • OSHA 40-Hour Training and 8-hour refreshers
  • Must possess a valid driver's license, with a clean driving record, and be willing to travel and conduct field work in all boroughs of NYC, Westchester, and Long Island
  • Experience working effectively with team members as well as independently
  • Strong quantitative/math and analytical skills
  • Core competency in Microsoft Office Products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and Outlook
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong attention to detail
  • Must be able to wear a respirator
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test and will be subject to DOT regulated random drug testing
