Job description

Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Geotechnical Engineer to serve as a Resident Project Representative. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the Everglades Restoration project.

The position involves overseeing geotechnical activities and ensuring compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and quality control measures on-site. The successful candidate will work closely with the our clients teams to ensure the project's successful execution.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide daily on-site geotechnical observation and reporting.
  • Coordinate with staff to ensure the alignment of project progress and activities with the project goals.
  • Observe and report on the Contractor's management of stockpile materials, embankment material preparation, and placement of embankment materials.
  • Review design engineer plans and specifications to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Evaluate and analyze submittals, including RFIs, for technical accuracy and adherence to project specifications.
  • Review and verify both Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) data.
  • Participate in weekly progress meetings with both teams to discuss project milestones, challenges, and solutions.
  • Provide recommendations based on observations and analysis of geotechnical data related to the construction process.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports on all geotechnical matters and share findings with relevant stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geotechnical or Civil Engineering (Masterโ€™s degree preferred).
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering or a related field.
  • Knowledge of geotechnical activities such as embankment construction, material handling, and stockpile management.
  • Experience on projects similar to levy's, canals, reservoirs, or gated control systems.
  • Experience with ASTM methods for testing and reporting for earthen materials
  • Strong experience with construction observation and reporting on large-scale infrastructure projects.
  • Experience working with regulatory agencies.
  • Strong understanding of geotechnical analysis, interpretation, and recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and review engineering drawings, specifications, and submittals.
  • PE certification is preferred but not required.

Other Requirements:

  • Daily travel to the project site (approximately 40 minutes each way).
  • Company truck provided for travel to and from the site.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and meet project deadlines.
  • Must be able to work independently and with minimal supervision.
