Position Summary
Traylor Bros., Inc., a national heavy civil contractor, is currently seeking a Talent Acquisition Specialist to support Traylor Industrial Group.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone who believes traditional recruiting and hiring strategies are no longer enough. The Talent Acquisition Specialist will be responsible for building a strong talent pipeline to support the continued growth of Traylor Industrial Group companies, including industrial, commercial, and fabrication operations.
The successful candidate will partner with operations and corporate teams to identify and attract talented project managers, construction engineers, superintendents, interns, new graduates, office staff, and hourly shop workers who will thrive in an innovative and collaborative environment.
This position offers a unique opportunity to work across all levels of the organization and provide key contributions that support the strategic growth of Traylor Industrial Group.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Support and help lead recruiting initiatives, under the direction of business unit leadership and the Talent Acquisition Manager, to meet Traylor Industrial Group's hiring needs across all levels of the organization.
- Partner with operations and corporate teams to understand current and future workforce needs and support recruiting strategies that align with business growth.
- Source, screen, and evaluate active and passive candidates for professional, office, field, internship, new graduate, and hourly shop positions based on abilities, qualifications, experience, and cultural fit.
- Create and post open positions on internal ATS platforms, job boards, university career portals, LinkedIn, Glassdoor, and other relevant recruiting resources.
- Conduct phone screens, coordinate in-person and virtual interviews, arrange candidate travel as needed, and help ensure a positive candidate experience throughout the hiring process.
- Build and maintain relationships with targeted universities, trade schools, technical programs, community colleges, workforce development organizations, industry partners, and other educational institutions.
- Coordinate, attend, and participate in recruiting events, career fairs, networking events, information sessions, presentations, interview days, and other talent outreach activities.
- Travel to offices, projects, regional offices, and shop facilities to meet with hiring managers, understand workforce needs, promote opportunities, and help position candidates accordingly.
- Develop innovative recruiting strategies to attract candidates to project locations with limited local talent pools.
- Support employer branding efforts by promoting Traylor Industrial Group through professional social media, industry-related discussions, networking events, and appropriate content sharing.
- Advise management on appropriate offers and compensation packages relative to market conditions, under the direction of the Talent Acquisition Manager.
- Develop and report key recruiting metrics, including candidates, interviews, offers, and hires, to evaluate recruiting success and support hiring decisions.
- Support and continuously improve internship and new graduate recruiting efforts, with an emphasis on sourcing, selection, evaluation, and development of a pipeline of high-potential future talent.
- Select and maintain branded marketing materials for recruiting events and new hires.
- Assist with relocation of selected entry-level candidates and interns, as needed.
- Cross-train to support recruiting and hiring needs across all TCG business units, as needed.
- Up to 15% overnight travel may be required. Travel needs will vary depending on business demand.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Education/Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Human Resources, or a related field preferred.
- Previous university recruiting, talent acquisition, human resources, or business development experience preferred.
- A minimum of three to five years of experience with high-volume recruiting, salaried exempt recruiting, and hourly position recruiting required.
- Experience with university recruiting, internship programs, trade school recruiting, craft recruiting, construction, engineering, construction management, industrial, manufacturing, or skilled trades strongly preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of hiring principles and federal, state, and local employment regulations.
- Ability to prioritize, stay organized, and work independently in a busy, fast-growth environment with little supervision.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion, flexibility, and professionalism when working with all levels of the organization, both internally and externally.
- Ability to identify strategic recruiting partners and present creative ideas that help the company sustain a competitive position in the candidate marketplace.
- Must have a philosophy that is consistent with the Mission, Vision, and Core Values of Traylor.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is essential.
