The Opportunity:
CACI is seeking a Junior Mechanical Engineer to support our customer at NSWC Crane.
Responsibilities:
• Provide engineering services support to including Spec writing, design, mechanical calculations, outfitting design, marine drawing and work item development, selected record drawing (SRD) updates, cost estimates, ship checks and other technical work document preparation in accordance with drawing standards and good engineering design practices.
• Generate mechanical drawings for use in mechanical systems and outfitting. • Draft detailed multi-view drawings of systems, machinery spaces, systems, assemblies and products.
• Draw finished designs from sketches utilizing solid models and layouts and other ship references for installation and removal.
• Learn Drafting Standards Required Qualifications:
• BSME, BSCE, BSAE or BSNA/ME from an ABET accredited university.
• Ability to write clear reports and specifications.
• Ability to interface with team members, technical leads and Project Managers. • Ability to work alone on individual projects with minimal supervision and with other Engineering Disciplines on a team.
• Experience with US Navy and/or US commercial ship design standards.
• Ability to write white and point papers with minimal oversight.
• Proficient with MS Excel, Word, and Powerpoint. • Ability to create Presentations, Machinery arrangements/ piping takeoffs in powerpoint.
• Ability to create CAD system models and Machinery arrangement in AutoCAD. • Good verbal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel ≤10% of the time.
• Must be a US Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level security clearance.
Desired Qualifications:
• Active DOD Secret clearance
• Experience supporting DOD programs or projects
