Entry Level Mill Operations - Longview, WA
The opportunity:
Smurfit Westrock's pulp and paper mill located in Longview, WA is actively looking to fill several entry level production operator positions. We are seeking entry level operators for the pulp, paper or logistics departments. Our operators work a twelve-hour shift, rotating schedule of four days on and four days off.
How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:
  • Entry level position with training and advancement potential
  • Perform general clean-up of machines and work areas using brooms, shovels, hoses, rakes and other equipment
  • Operate powered industrial trucks and other heavy industrial equipment
  • Retrieve supplies from various locations and suppliers
  • Maintain all required safety standards.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned

What you need to succeed:
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • A minimum of two (2) years of continuous full-time work experience or post-secondary education, preferably in a manufacturing/production environment.
  • Availability to work rotating shifts including weekends and overtime
  • Basic computer skills
  • Be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds
  • Be able to stand and/or walk frequently for 12 working hours
  • Ability to lift/carry, push/pull repeatedly throughout the shift
  • Be able to perform frequent bending, twisting, kneeling, and squatting
  • Be able to perform occasional reaching over the shoulder, waist level, and from the floor
  • Be able to perform frequent grasping
  • Be able to work in noisy environments, around chemicals, high heat, exposed to weather
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English
  • Must be willing to complete pre-employment testing, background check, physical and drug screen

Compensation Offered
  • Starting wage of $23.41, increasing to $27.55 after 90 days.
