Rightstone is looking for an Automation Maintenance Technician in Katy, TX. The pay rate is $17.00/hr for a 3-month contract with a consistent Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM schedule and strong potential for permanent placement based on performance.
In this role, you will join a global leader in electrical distribution at our state-of-the-art facility in Katy. As a Level 1 Automation Technician, you will be the key person responsible for maximizing machine uptime and supporting daily production flow. You will work alongside a skilled maintenance team, handling everything from routine preventive maintenance (PMs) and deep equipment care to first-level mechanical troubleshooting. This is an exceptional entry-level opportunity for a mechanically inclined professional looking to build a high-demand career in automated logistics and robotics maintenance.
What you will do:
- Perform daily, shift-based cleaning and detailing of advanced automation equipment, including sensors, conveyors, guarding, and electronic components.
- Complete scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) routines, including system lubrication, filter changes, visual inspections, and checking of wear components.
- Diagnose and resolve basic mechanical or electrical issues, such as conveyor jams, component misalignments, loose fasteners, and sensor blockages.
- Maintain strict 5S organization standards around automated machinery by sweeping, wiping surfaces, and organizing tools.
- Respond rapidly to production floor downtime events, communicating clear technical details to equipment operators and senior Level 2/3 technicians.
- Document all completed PM tasks, downtime notes, and basic repair actions accurately in facility logs or a digital CMMS tracking system.
- Maintain 100% safety compliance by strictly following all Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and PPE mandates.
What we are looking for:
- An entry-level professional or someone with 1–2 years of experience in manufacturing, mechanical maintenance, or advanced machine operation.
- Solid basic mechanical aptitude, including comfort utilizing manual hand tools and a fundamental understanding of mechanical systems.
- Fundamental electrical awareness, such as the ability to identify sensors, wiring routes, and low-voltage components (no live electrical work required).
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to spot early signs of machine wear, fluid leaks, or equipment misalignment before failures occur.
- A dependable individual committed to an 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM schedule, with the flexibility to handle mandatory overtime or on-call needs as production demands.
- Technical school certificate or active coursework in industrial maintenance, mechatronics, or automation is a major plus, but not required.
This is a temporary/contract position. While benefits (Health, 401k, PTO) are not provided during the contract period, they may become available upon successful conversion to a permanent role.
