What Will You Do?

For entry level candidates, this role will work under direct supervision and will develop skills and build knowledge of various machine tools with goal of becoming competent to work independently. 

  • Assist in operation of machine tools such as; shear, saw, press break, head punch, milling, lathe, drill press, flaring, tube bending, tube polisher or pipe cutting activities according to production specifications and needs
  • Assist with verifying conformance of machined work to specifications using measuring instruments such as; calipers, micrometers, and fixed or telescoping gauges
  • Learn to read and interpret machining instructions, job orders, and blueprints to determine dimensional specifications, sequences of operations, setups, and tooling requirements
  • Learn to select and set cutting speeds, feed rates, depths of cuts, and cutting tools according to machining instructions or knowledge of metal properties
  • Inspect all materials to ensurse quality standards are met
  • Inspect completed work is in accordance to blueprints, design sketches or BOMs to ensure accuracy and per specifications
  • Understand and adhere to fafety and quality procedures
  • Maintain clean work area and practices general housekeeping standards
  • Tasks are performed to ISO standards and requirements
  • Other duties may be assigned based on business need

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance. Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this role includes close vision.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to risk of electrical shock. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, and vibration. Loud noise level in the work environment.

Your Experience Should Be...

Required

  • 1+ years manufacturing experience, preferably in a fabrication role
  • Self starter capable of managing multiple work orders with a high attention to detail 
  • Experience working with tools, such as micrometers or calipers, tape measures, etc.
  • Basic math skills which include understanding degrees of angle, basic understanding of geometry and ability to use angle measurement device
  • Must be able to identify problems and work towards a solution  
  • Must be able to develop thorough knowledge of company products
  • Overtime and weekend hours, as needed

Preferred

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience using blueprints and design sketches
  • ISO knowledge
  • Experience with metal working equipment
