Delivery Driver Job Description

Apex Building Company, LLC is seeking a bilingual (English/Spanish) delivery driver to join our team at our Nashville, TN branch. This position is responsible for safely operating company vehicles to transport materials, equipment, and supplies to various job sites. This role plays a critical part in supporting field operations by ensuring timely, accurate, and professional delivery of items needed to keep projects on schedule. A valid driver’s license and a clean driving record are required. Some deliveries may require overnight travel depending on project location, material availability, and scheduling needs.

Job Responsibilities

  • Operate company trucks, vans, or flatbeds, to deliver construction materials, tools, and equipment to job sites across the region.
  • Load and unload materials using proper lifting techniques and equipment (forklifts, dollies, straps, pallet jacks, etc.).
  • Verify delivery accuracy by checking material quantities, jobsite addresses, and delivery instructions before departure.
  • Maintain delivery logs, mileage records, fuel receipts, and any required documentation.
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections, including checking fluid levels, tire pressure, lights, and general vehicle condition.
  • Report mechanical issues, safety concerns, or incidents immediately to the supervisor.
  • Follow all DOT regulations, company safety policies, and jobsite safety rules.
  • Communicate professionally with project managers, warehouse staff, vendors, and field crews regarding delivery timelines or delays.
  • Assist with warehouse duties when not driving, including material staging, inventory organization, and equipment movement.
  • Secure loads properly to prevent shifting, damage, or safety hazards during transport.
  • Navigate efficiently using GPS, maps, or written directions to ensure delivery on time.
  • Travel overnight when required for long distance deliveries or early morning drop offs.
  • Represent the company professionally at all times, maintaining a positive and respectful attitude on jobsites and with vendors.

Job Requirements

  • Valid state Driver’s License (DL).
  • Clean driving record with no major violations.
  • Minimum 1 to 2 years of driving experience preferred; construction or material delivery experience is a plus.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and move materials up to 50 to 75 lbs.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly lifts, carries, and moves construction materials, tools, and equipment weighing 50 to75 lbs.
  • Frequently stands, walks, bends, stoops, kneels, and climbs in and out of trucks throughout the workday.
  • Uses proper lifting techniques and material handling equipment (dollies, straps, pallet jacks) to load and unload deliveries safely.
  • Handles materials in various environments, including uneven terrain, active jobsites, and warehouse settings.
  • Operates company vehicles for extended periods, including long distance driving when required.
  • Works in outdoor conditions and is exposed to weather variations such as heat, cold, rain, and wind.
  • Maintains the physical stamina necessary for repetitive lifting, securing loads, and navigating jobsite conditions.
