Job Summary:
We're hiring freelance Video Operations Engineers at Kiswe. This is your chance to work with and help lead a company that is defining the future of direct to consumer digital solutions. This is a freelance role paid between $40 - $50 per hour, with the expectation of working between 4 to 15 hours each week. This role is open to remote work for US candidates, and will interact with our partners and team members across all time zones. Please note, we are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
Description:
The freelance Video Operations Engineer is responsible for first level technical support of all aspects of production and execution for our customer events within the general Kiswe cloud environment. These events include event monitoring, customer/partner production support, content distribution and validation, as well as overall livestream and technical troubleshooting.
We are looking for candidates with a technical interest in broadcast and video production, with an emphasis on livestream / remote media productions. You must be comfortable working with customers under tight and critical timelines and possess a basic technical understanding of livestream execution. This freelancer will work alongside the Kiswe Technical Operations team to flawlessly deliver successful events for our partners on a nightly basis.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Able to regularly support night and weekend events across various US time zones
  • Diligently monitor games and other partner events with critical attention to detail
  • Follow instructions, referencing documentation, prudently troubleshooting as needed and escalating with questions or concerns
  • Communicate in a professional manner with other team members in formal and informal manners (including video calls, Slack, email)
  • No travel required

Required Qualifications:
  • Exposure to the technical aspects of broadcast operations, production, or video production deployment
  • Familiarity with key media protocols, including SRT, RTMP, and HLS
  • High level understanding of livestream issues and troubleshooting methods (framerate discrepancies, dropped packets, artifacting, etc.)
  • Demonstrated history of problem solving abilities during live events or facing tight deadlines

Desirable Qualifications:
  • Experience delivering live video streams via SRT using servers such as Wowza, Nimble or Haivision
  • Experience using Content Media Systems (CMS) to manage VOD and archive content
  • Experience working in or an interest in sports (pro, semi-pro, leagues, and college)
  • Experience with video capabilities such as captioning (SRT / WebVTT / TTML) and dynamic advertising (DAI)
  • Experience with content distribution using HLS / DASH, DRM (Widevine, Fairplay, PlayReady, DRM Servers), and CDN's
