Job description

Description The Library Aide position performs routine and repetitive work in shelving library materials. The primary responsibilities of the position include performing a variety of entry level tasks of routine difficulty related to the City and County's library operations and providing assistance to City and County staff and the public. The scheduled hours for this position are Monday from 5:00 p.m

to 9:00 p.m., Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m

The position exemplifies the characteristics of a collaborative, innovative and resilient work culture within the department and works in partnership with other employees when appropriate to provide effective library services. Essential Required Tasks/Examples of Duties Puts book trucks in order and returns books and other library materials to shelves according to Dewey Decimal or alphabetical order. Maintains the assigned section as well as the greater library by straightening shelves and picking up stray books and other library materials left on tables and chairs.

Shifts books, when required, and relocates mis-shelved books according to call number. Assists library staff by pulling requested holds and assisting with circulation check-ins during high volume periods. This position is not eligible for a hybrid or remote schedule Minimum Qualifications Education High School Diploma or GED equivalent, or actively working towards diploma/GED Experience None Years of related experience may be substituted for required education, however education cannot be substituted for the necessary work experience.

Candidates must meet the minimum required years of work experience. NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (in addition to above requirements): Must be at least 16 years of age. New hires must, as a condition of employment, pass the following pre-offer and post-offer/hire processes: in-person or virtual interviews, reference checks, and background checks, which may include local police check and sex-offender registry.

Working Conditions Regular, predictable attendance required. Work is performed onsite at the Broomfield Library or other City/County buildings. Work may be scheduled on weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays.

Operates library equipment as necessary including pushing a book cart weighing up to 585 pounds. Required to lift, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Required to sit, kneel, crouch or crawl.
