Job description

Description

As an ink technician, you will support our flexographic press operators in the print production environment. You will be responsible for the procurement, creation and maintenance of all inks, coating and varnishes. Other responsibilities include labeling containers and stocking adequate amounts of related consumables. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Dispense and certify inks required for all jobs in production. 
  • Follow standard operating procedures, utilizing given tools and software, to ensure ink meets quality standards.
  • Stage all inks and maintain ink levels at each press in advance of each job, utilizing the production schedule. Once staged, validate production schedule located in the press helper area to indicate ink is at press.
  • Order and maintain inventory levels for all required consumables including specialized inks.
  • Maintain ink area in clean working order, including maintenance of GSE Color Match Dispenser as necessary.
  • Create and maintain the GCMS library for digital color standards.
  • Process ink returns and recertify to standards prior to putting on the shelf.
  • Assist production operators in troubleshooting ink related issues on press.
  • Coordinate with Pre-Press department regarding new orders or specialized color or applications. 
  • Follow all FSG procedures and work rules.
  • Additional duties as required.

Requirements:
Education and Experience:

  • HS diploma (GED) required, College coursework preferred.
  • At least 2 years similar experience in printing environment.

Job Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize competing demands and be proactive in job duties, always thinking a step ahead in terms of ink needs.
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical abilities.
  • Detail oriented
  • Experience with GSE Color Match machine and related color matching software programs and machines is a plus.
  • Knowledge of ink and related consumable properties is a plus.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Training Requirements:

  • Willing to attend required training courses or sessions related to the job as assigned.

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 75 pounds with assistance.
  • Lifting, sitting, standing, crouching, repetitive tasks
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test and subject to random drug screening.

Work Environment:

  • Regular exposure to dust and noise in the production environment.
  • Warehouse environment temperatures may be influenced by outside temperatures.

Personal Protective Equipment:

  • Wear and maintain in good working order PPE necessary for safe performance of job duties. This may include safety glasses, gloves, smocks, etc.
