Job description

Position Summary

We are looking for an eager, reliable Carpenter Helper to join our shop team. This is a great entry-level role for someone who has a baseline foundation in woodworking or cabinetry and wants to build a long-term career in custom woodworking. You’ll be working directly alongside our experienced craftspeople, assisting with shop production, material preparation, assembly, and job-site preparation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist lead carpenters and cabinet makers with daily shop operations and project execution.
  • Stage, measure, cut, and process wood, plywood, and hardware according to project specifications.
  • Safely operate and maintain basic shop machinery and power tools (table saws, miter saws, sanders, routers, drills, and hand tools).
  • Sand components, apply adhesives, prep surfaces, and assist with basic cabinet assembly.
  • Keep the shop clean, organized, and free of safety hazards (sweeping, dust collection maintenance, material organization).
  • Assist with loading and unloading materials, hardware delivery, and job-site staging or installation as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience: Minimum 6 months of experience working in a custom cabinet shop, general cabinetry production, or custom woodworking environment. (High-level technical skill is not required, but familiarity with shop workflows is essential).
  • Tool Competency: Basic working knowledge and comfort using power tools and shop machinery (saws, drills, sanders, air nailers).
  • Measurement Skills: Ability to read a tape measure accurately down to 1/16" (1/32" preferred).
  • Work Ethic: Reliable, punctual, attentive to detail, and eager to learn new trade skills.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods and regularly lift 50+ lbs of lumber and sheet goods.

Company Description

From armoires and fireplace mantles to entertainment centers and computer desk systems, we create timeless treasures of beauty and substance. Our expertise encompasses libraries, studies, kitchens, dining rooms, bedrooms and bathrooms — as well as executive offices.
