The Assistant: Legal Support is an entry-level position providing assistance to Legal Practice Assistants and Attorneys with a focus on supporting individuals, small teams or departments on the below essential functions. Work is generally routine, will follow standard firm procedures and is closely supervised.


Essential Functions: 

  • Scheduling/coordinating meetings, diaries, and travel arrangements
  • Data entry and paper/electronic document filing/archiving
  • Document editing, proofing, formatting, redlining and production
  • Preparation of expense reports
  • Preparation of new matter memoranda
  • Photocopying
  • Creation of labels
  • Assists with mailings, billing, distributions, and faxing
  • Answers telephones and receiving/relaying telephone messages from internal and external sources
  • Enters attorney timekeeping
  • Binder assembly
  • Duties may vary for each assignment, floor or area of practice
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required to meet Firm goals and objectives 

Education/Training/Certifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required

 

Professional Experience:

  • 1+ year office experience preferred

 

Technical Skills: 

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products required
  • Typing of 50 WPM

Performance Traits: 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively and in a professional manner with all levels of the Firm and outside vendors
  • Ability to work in a diverse team environment and effectively support the demanding needs of the Firm
  • Ability to communicate information that requires little explanation or interpretation.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines with shifting priorities

The typical pay scale for this position is between USD $48,000.00/Yr. and USD $63,000.00/Yr., although the actual wage or salary could be lower or higher if the candidate's education, experience, skills and internal pay alignment are different from those specified.
