Client Overview:
Our client is a global organization focused on operational excellence, supply chain optimization, and strategic procurement. The company is committed to continuous improvement, supplier collaboration, and delivering value through innovative sourcing and category management practices. They are currently looking to add a Procurement Project Specialist to their team.
Salary/Hourly Rate:
$35/hr - $45/hr Based on experience
Position Overview:
The Procurement Project Specialist manages sourcing initiatives, purchasing activities, supplier relationships, inventory planning, and cost savings programs while ensuring supply continuity, operational efficiency, and compliance with organizational requirements. This role is a 6-month contract with potential to extend. The position is hybrid, in office 3 days a week, with hours from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Responsibilities of the Procurement Project Specialist:

• Plan and execute RFQs, RFPs, supplier evaluations, market tests, and competitive sourcing events.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define business requirements, specifications, service levels, quality standards, and evaluation criteria.
• Source and procure materials, products, and services required to support business operations and production needs.
• Utilize ERP/MRP systems and procurement tools to manage purchasing activities and inventory requirements.
• Analyze supplier proposals, pricing structures, commercial terms, and total cost of ownership to support sourcing decisions.
• Lead or support supplier negotiations to improve pricing, service levels, and commercial outcomes.
• Develop and maintain supplier relationships to ensure quality, service, sustainability, and supply continuity objectives are achieved.
• Identify, track, and implement cost savings and value improvement opportunities.
• Prepare savings analyses, business cases, and procurement reports to support decision-making and benefits realization.
• Maintain accurate procurement records and ensure compliance with procurement policies and governance requirements.
• Partner with cross-functional teams including Operations, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Finance, Quality, Engineering, IT, HR, Legal, and other stakeholders.

Required Experience/Skills for the Procurement Project Specialist:

• 2+ years of experience in procurement.
• Experience within manufacturing, chemicals, raw materials, or pharmaceutical environments.
• Experience managing RFQs, RFPs, supplier evaluations, competitive bidding processes, and supplier negotiations.
• Strong understanding of procurement processes, supplier management, and commercial negotiations.
• Experience utilizing ERP, MRP, procurement, or supply chain management systems (SAP preferred).
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret spend data, supplier quotes, and commercial comparisons.
• Exposure to cost reduction initiatives, procurement transformation programs, continuous improvement, or strategic sourcing projects.
• Knowledge of supplier performance management, contract administration, and category management methodologies.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including data analysis and reporting.

Preferred Experience/Skills for the Procurement Project Specialist:

• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Professional certification such as CIPS, ISM, APICS/ASCM, Lean, or Six Sigma is a plus.

Education Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Procurement, Operations, Finance, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience is required.
