Job description

Associate Attorney (0–2 Years Experience)

Firm: Holtsclaw Law Firm, PLLC

Location: In-Office (Casual environment; remote work allowed by exception)

Practice Areas: Business, Real Estate, and Probate Litigation

About Us

Holtsclaw Law Firm, PLLC is a fast-growing litigation boutique specializing in high-stakes business, real estate, and probate disputes. While our primary focus is aggressive, strategic litigation, we also handle a solid mix of complex transactional matters.

We’re expanding rapidly and seeking a motivated entry-level attorney (0–2 years) who is ready to hit the ground running. You’ll work directly alongside our Managing Partner, gaining hands-on mentorship, direct courtroom exposure, and comprehensive training as a litigator.

A Quick Reality Check: We are litigators first. If you don't want to be in the courtroom, negotiate aggressively, or draft pleadings, this isn't the right role for you.

Culture & Environment

  • Workplace: In-office position with a friendly, highly collaborative, and casual vibe.
  • Dress Code: Casual day-to-day. Sharp, professional attire for client meetings, depositions, and court appearances.
  • Flexibility: Remote work is available on an infrequent, as-needed basis—not as a standard schedule.

What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)

  • Own Your Cases: Manage litigation files involving real estate, business, and probate matters from intake to resolution.
  • Advocate: Represent clients in court proceedings, mediations, arbitrations, and settlement negotiations.
  • Draft & Negotiate: Create airtight legal documents—including pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, contracts, and deeds—with precision and clarity.
  • Research Strategy: Conduct deep legal research using Westlaw to build winning case strategies and support argument development.
  • Client Advisory: Partner closely with clients to understand their bottom line and tailor strategies to meet their goals.
  • File Management: Maintain organized case files and keep administrative details tight in a fast-paced environment.

Candidate Qualifications & Skills

Academic & Bar Requirements

  • Education: J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school, graduating in the top 20% of your class (Law school transcript required with application).
  • Bar Status: Barred attorneys or pending bar examinees are welcome. (Bar-pending applicants will start on a contract basis as a legal assistant, transitioning to an associate role upon passing).

Core Strengths

  • Writing & Research: Exceptional legal writing, analytical thinking, and proficiency with platforms like Westlaw.
  • Courtroom Readiness: Mock trial background or litigation competition experience is strongly preferred.
  • Communication & Negotiation: Sharp oral advocacy skills paired with practical negotiation skills aimed at minimizing client costs and maximizing outcomes.
  • Mobility: Reliable transportation for daily office commutes and local court appearances.

Company Description

Upstart law firm that is growing quickly and offers lots of room for a young attorney to grow within the firm.
