Job description

Landfill Gas Technician

Are you looking to start a hands-on career with growth opportunities in a stable, year-round industry? Waste Connections is hiring aGas Technician Traineeto work outdoors while learning valuable skills such as gas system monitoring, basic maintenance, andHDPE pipe fusion. This is an entry-level opportunity where training will be provided to develop the right candidate into a full Gas Technician role.

This position offers competitive pay, excellent benefits, and a clear path for career advancement within a growing field.

Schedule
Monday-Friday, 6:30am - 4:30pm (40-50 hours per week)
On-call rotation: once every 5 weeks (weekend coverage required)

Pay
Start @ $21-$22/hr

Bonus Structure

  • $1,000 bonus at 6 months
  • $1,500 bonus at 1 year

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assist with routine inspections of landfill gas collection systems
  • Work alongside Lead Landfill Gas Technicians to learn system operations and compliance requirements
  • Support monitoring of gas wells and probes using basic equipment under supervision
  • Assist with maintenance of pneumatic pumps, including removal and basic inspections
  • Help monitor liquid levels in gas wells
  • Learn and supportHDPE pipe fusionand repair processes
  • Maintain safe working conditions and follow allsite safety procedures
  • Perform general labor and support tasks around the landfill as needed

Position Requirements:

  • Willingness to learn and be trained in gas system operations
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under supervision
  • Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Strong work ethic,reliability, and positive attitude
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work
  • Experience with basic hand and power tools preferred, but not required
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Flexibility to perform a variety of tasks
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation as training progresses
  • Veterans are encouraged to apply

Ideal Candidates Will Possess:

  • Mechanical aptitude or hands-on experience (construction, labor, equipment, etc.)
  • Interest in environmental or landfill operations
  • Desire to grow into a Gas Technician role

Successful candidates will enjoy field service work in an environment built on operational excellence and accountability. This is adevelopmental role with a clear path to promotioninto a skilled Gas Technician position.
