Summary:
AGAT Laboratories is currently hiring for an entry-level Laboratory Technician C that has some basic laboratory experience. In this position, the successful candidate will be able to work effectively as part of a team to carry out a variety of sample analysis methods, and will also be able to work independently on laboratory activities. This position will be working in our Mining Geochemistry Lab in Calgary.
Our team is currently seeking technicians who are available for either early morning or evening shifts which include weekends. The position will be contractual with an end date of October 30th 2026 with the possibility of extension
What you will be doing:

  • Perform basic laboratory procedures including sample weighing and preparation of reagents and calibration solutions.
  • Carry our standard procedures for geochemical analysis of soil, rock and ore samples.
  • Provide general lab support including washing glassware, cleaning work stations and waste disposal.
  • Calibrate, operate, maintain and troubleshoot basic to intermediate equipment and instruments (bottle-top dispensers, pipettes, furnaces, hot blocks, etc).
  • Compile, verify and validate accurate data records.
  • Meet quality assurance and turn around specifications.
  • Follow all Quality Control and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Upload results using reporting software.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What you bring to the table:
  • Post-secondary education with a Technical Diploma or Degree required (or are currently enrolled in a chemistry, geology or other science-related program).
  • 1+ years previous laboratory experience, either industry or academic experience.
  • Experience with basic laboratory chemicals, including handling of acids, and associated safe work practices.
  • Familiarity with basic laboratory Quality Assurance guidelines.
  • An understanding of the principles of chemistry.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow laboratory Standard Operating Procedure documents and guidelines.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency using Excel and reporting results.
  • Mature work ethic, with the ability to work as part of a team in a positive manner in a fast paced environment.
  • Problem solving, communication, organization, and time management.
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to lift 25+ pounds on a consistent basis and perform work in a hot environment.
