The Role

We are seeking a Lab Technician to join our P&H Milling team. This role is responsible for responsible for conducting laboratory testing and analysis, documenting results, and ensuring compliance with quality standards and product specifications. Provides support to the Quality Assurance team through testing, inspections, documentation, R&D activities, and coordination with the QA Manager and other departments as needed.

Day to Day
  • Conduct wheat and flour testing to ensure quality and safety meet specifications.
  • Verify in-process testing results from Process Operators.
  • Regularly monitor product quality, troubleshoot, and apply corrective actions.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment.
  • Issue customer documents like Certificates of Analysis and Product Specifications.
  • Prepare and submit samples for external lab testing and maintain control sample records.
  • Ensure documentation complies with company policies and procedures.
  • Report testing results to the QA Manager and relevant staff.
  • Support quality program maintenance, including reviews, updates, and corrective actions.
  • Maintain the Supplier Approval program.
  • Assist with third-party audits.
  • Collaborate with Production and Office Staff on analysis and documentation.
  • Assist with traceability exercises, mock recalls, audits, and customer inquiries.
What You’ll Bring:
  • A degree or diploma in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related fields or equivalent training and experience.
  • Basic knowledge of CFIA, SFCR and GFSI requirements. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • Able to stand long hours, walk and climb stairs.
  • Able to lift up to 22.7 kg (50 lb) when required.
  • Flexible to work occasional overtimes and weekends if required.
