Job description

Summary: The Shipping and Receiving position involves reviewing shipping orders on a tablet, verifying documentation, picking orders, pulling products, placing items on pallets, and shrink-wrapping them for shipment. The role entails approximately 60% manual labor and up to 40% forklift use as needed.
Note: Schedule flexibility is needed as travel hours may vary and will be scheduled based on business needs, operational demands, and project requirements.
Work Hours: Monday to Friday from 06:00 AM to 04:30 PM, 2 Saturday(s) a month from 06:00 AM to 02:30 PM

Compensation: This hourly, non-exempt position pays from $18.75 to $21.75 per hour, with overtime compensated at 1.5 times the base rate. New hires usually earn between $61,000 and $79,800 annually, or more, depending on experience, overtime hours, and bonuses.
To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to complete the following essential duties and responsibilities:
  • Accurately select and place flooring product orders on pallets, then shrink-wrap each pallet to ensure secure handling of heavy materials.
  • Read shipping orders to determine the quantity and type of transportation needed.
  • Ensure the accuracy of all shipping documents and maintain related data.
  • Collect documentation for outbound freight and route it to the appropriate record-keeping unit.
  • Pick orders for shipment and assemble various types of merchandise.
  • Schedule inbound and outbound freight to align with warehouse operations.
  • Contact carrier representatives to arrange and provide instructions for loading products.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, and organized work environment.
  • Keep an equipment checklist and perform preventative maintenance on equipment.
  • Enhancing current warehouse layouts to include assigning more racks, paint striping, and hanging new address locations.
  • Updating system locations and accounting for physical material.
  • Follow physical inventory procedures to include counting and reconciliation process.
  • Maintaining daily log of all activities related throughout the day and sending details to lead /supervisor.
  • Become a process expert and travel to branches that are in need of warehouse staffing, fluctuations in inbound/outbound volume, reorganization of racking and bulk inventory areas etc.
  • Demonstrate proper usage of a measuring tape.
  • Travel domestically up to, but not limited to, 65-75% of the time
  • Perform additional duties as required or requested.

Additionally the candidate must meet the following Education and/or Experience requirements:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • One (1) year of warehouse experience required.
  • Forklift experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency with a tablet or iPad.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work under pressure.
