Job DescriptionOverview

AtkinsRealis is seeking an ITS/Traffic Engineer to join our NC ITS/TrafficTeam. This is an entry-level position and is based out of Raleigh, NC.

Your Role
  • Design and develop plans and drawings, which may include the development of preliminary layout and/or final drawings related to ITS and Traffic design. Specifically, our work includes traffic signal design, fiber opticcommunicationscable routing and splicing, utility coordination, signing and striping, traffic safety studies, and more.
  • Organize and conduct ITS and Traffic engineering investigations, planning, and analysis which have a well-defined scope.
  • Outline and preparerelatively straightforwardtechnical reports of sections of more complex reports, working under the periodic review of a more experienced professional.
  • Research feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, regulatory agency specifications, industry best practices, state of the practices, and emerging technologies.
  • Contributes to the development of specifications andpermitapplications andwritesmiscellaneous reports. Prepares preliminaryman-hour,costand material quantity estimates.
  • Participates in quality control checks,maintainingquality standards in all work produced, checking computations, and/or reviewing reports, designs, and drawings developed by others.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines asrequired. Perform field observations of construction whereappropriate.
  • Performsuch other duties as the supervisor may from time to timedeemnecessary.
About You
  • EXPERIENCE: Completion ofBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering degreefrom an ABET accredited college/university.
  • EDUCATION: Minimal experience isrequired ofincumbents with aBachelor's Degreein a branch of Engineeringdirectly relatedto hiring discipline; no experiencerequiredwith aMaster'sdegree.
  • SPECIAL SKILLS:
    • Basic computer skillsrequiredto enter data into spreadsheets or databases.
    • Math skills to perform simple calculations; willingness to learn.
    • Proficiencyin Microsoft Office.
    • Experience with AutoCAD or MicroStation (preferred).
    • Proficient interpersonal andcommunicationsskills.
    • Capability to develop technical writings and reports.
