Jr. Business Litigation Associate Attorney
Position Overview
We are seeking a Jr. Business Litigation Associate Attorney to join our commercial litigation team. This entry-level associate will support partners and senior litigators in handling a broad range of business disputes including breach of contract and fiduciary duty claims, commercial and partner/shareholder conflicts, and intellectual property and data security matters. The role is designed to develop courtroom skills and substantive litigation experience through legal research, drafting pleadings and motions, discovery management, client communication, and courtroom support under close supervision.
Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct detailed legal research and draft memoranda, pleadings, motions, and client correspondence related to commercial litigation matters.
  • Manage discovery tasks including drafting and responding to requests for production, interrogatories, and requests for admission; coordinate e-discovery and document review.
  • Assist in preparation for depositions, hearings, mediations, and trials, including witness preparation, exhibit organization, and trial binders.
  • Work on matters involving breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, partner/member disputes, and shareholder disputes, helping shape case strategy and factual development.
  • Handle disputes involving intellectual property infringement (copyright and trademark), breach of confidence, and related commercial claims.
  • Support responses to and investigations of data security breaches, including preservation of evidence, coordinating with forensic vendors, and drafting notifications or pleadings as necessary.
  • Assist with audits of distributors, contract compliance reviews, and enforcement actions for distributor/channel disputes.
  • Draft and review settlement agreements, confidentiality agreements, and other transactional documents related to litigation resolution.
  • Communicate regularly with clients to provide status updates, gather facts, and support client-facing meetings under supervision.
  • Coordinate with experts, co-counsel, and opposing counsel, and assist with negotiating and preparing settlement documents.
  • Maintain accurate time and billing records, and contribute to business development initiatives when appropriate.
  • Participate in internal training and mentorship programs to develop litigation skills and substantive knowledge.

Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Barred in CA
  • 1+ year of litigation experience, preferably with exposure to business or entertainment litigation matters.
  • Experience or demonstrated interest in business litigation practice areas including breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, partner/member/shareholder disputes, and commercial disputes.
  • Familiarity with intellectual property disputes (copyright and trademark infringement), breach of confidence claims, and handling related pleadings and motions.
  • Experience or coursework related to data security/privacy incident response, e-discovery, and document preservation protocols preferred.
  • Strong legal research and writing skills with attention to detail and ability to draft clear, persuasive briefs and client communications.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and case management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple matters and meet deadlines.
  • Comfort with courtroom procedures and litigation processes, and willingness to take depositions and appear in hearings under supervision.
  • Proficiency with e-discovery platforms, Westlaw/ LexisNexis, Microsoft Office suite, and document management systems.
  • Strong interpersonal and client-facing skills; ability to work collaboratively on a team while accepting direct supervision and constructive feedback.
