Job description

BEI Construction is seeking an Accounting Assistant to support our accounting team. This entry-level role will primarily support the accounts receivable function, including invoicing, payment posting, account reconciliation, and customer follow-up, while also being cross-trained in accounts payable to provide backup support as needed. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 0-2 years of experience who is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to build a career in accounting. This position is based in Alameda, CA and reports to the Accounts Receivable Supervisor.
Responsibilities:
  • Support the accounts receivable function with invoicing, payment posting, account reconciliation, and customer follow-up.
  • Assist with maintaining accurate financial records and resolving routine billing discrepancies.
  • Cross-train in accounts payable and provide support with invoice entry, coding, and payment processing as needed.
  • Perform general administrative and accounting support tasks while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
  • 0-2 years of accounting, bookkeeping, or related experience preferred.
  • Associate degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related field preferred, or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with accounting software or ERP systems.
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
