What is an entry level Ignition developer?

An Entry Level Ignition Developer is a professional who works with Ignition, an industrial automation software platform developed by Inductive Automation. Their primary role involves designing, developing, and implementing applications for monitoring and controlling industrial processes. They typically work under the guidance of senior developers to build dashboards, reports, and HMI/SCADA systems. Entry level developers may also assist in troubleshooting, testing, and maintaining existing Ignition projects. This role is suitable for individuals with a background in computer science, engineering, or related fields, and who are interested in industrial automation.

What are some typical projects or tasks an entry level Ignition developer might work on during their first year?

As an Entry Level Ignition Developer, you can expect to work on a range of projects such as developing dashboards, creating reports, and integrating industrial devices with the Ignition platform. You may also assist in troubleshooting issues, performing system upgrades, and collaborating with senior developers on larger-scale SCADA or HMI implementations. This role offers valuable hands-on experience with industrial automation software, and you'll frequently interact with engineers, IT staff, and end users to ensure solutions meet operational needs.
