Stand Together

Arlington, VA • On-site

$75K - $110K/yr

Full-time

Re-posted 6 days ago

Job description

Stand Together is a philanthropic community that helps America’s boldest changemakers tackle the root causes of our country’s biggest problems, from education to the economy, broken communities, and toxic division, among dozens of other pressing issues. We provide our partners with access to resources including funding, thought leadership, a network of peers, and a playbook for applying proven principles to transform lives and society.

The Accounting & Automation Analyst supports core accounting operations while actively using AI tools and automation to amplify the team’s capacity. This role is ideal for a candidate 1–2 years out of college who brings intellectual curiosity to the close process and sees technology as a force multiplier, not a shortcut. The Analyst will build a strong accounting foundation while helping the team work smarter. This role offers hands-on exposure to month-end close, financial reporting, internal controls, and audit preparation — alongside real ownership of automation initiatives from day one.

Stand Together is open to applicants located in the Washington DC area as well as Wichita, Kansas, for this position.
How You Will Contribute

• AI & Automation

◦ Use AI tools (e.g., Claude, Copilot) to draft, review, and streamline accounting tasks such as:

  • Prepare and record journal entries with appropriate support and documentation
  • Perform monthly account reconciliations and investigate variances
  • Assist with month-end and year-end close activities
  •  Maintain accurate general ledger records in accordance with internal controls

◦ Identify repetitive workflows and partner with senior team members to automate them

◦ Document automated processes and maintain clear audit trails

• Reporting & Audit Support

◦ Assist in preparing internal financial reports and schedules

◦ Support audit requests by compiling schedules and documentation

• Continuous Improvement

◦ Identify process gaps and raise improvement ideas to the team

◦ Participate in testing and adopting new tools or system enhancements

What You Will Bring

◦ Genuine interest in AI and automation — you’ve experimented with these tools and see them as force multipliers

◦ Exposure to or interest in automation tools such as Power Automate, Python, or Excel macros

◦ Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

◦ Ability to follow processes, meet deadlines, and document work clearly

Standout Candidates Will Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent coursework OR Information Systems, Computer Information Systems, Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related technical field

◦ 1–2 years of accounting experience (internships and entry-level roles count)

◦ Foundational understanding of accounting principles and the general ledger

◦ Experience with an ERP system (e.g., Sage Intacct, NetSuite, Oracle)

◦ Experience with Snowflake or other data warehouse/analytics platforms

For this role, the anticipated base salary range is $75,000-$110,000 per year. This role may also be eligible for additional bonus compensation designed to align total compensation with an employee’s overall contribution to the organization.

Our Principles-Based Management™ (PBM) compensation philosophy is grounded in an individualized approach that rewards the long-term value each person creates for the organization. Compensation decisions are informed by a variety of factors, including relevant experience, capabilities, demonstrated skills, role responsibilities, and expected contribution. Consistent with this approach, base salary may vary within or outside of the anticipated range based on these considerations.

Our Values: Working for an organization within the Stand Together philanthropic community is different from many other places. The culture is deeply rooted in Principle Based Management® (PBM®), a framework guided by the principles that drive human progress, such as dignity, openness, and bottom-up empowerment. PBM® empowers employees to be entrepreneurial, to innovate, and to continually drive transformation.

We believe diversity fuels creativity, broadens knowledge, and helps drive success.  That is why we’re proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer and strive to treat all employees and applicants with honesty, dignity, and respect.

We may use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to support parts of the hiring process, such as reviewing applications, analyzing resumes, or assessing responses and identifying potential inconsistencies or verification signals in application materials based on available information. These tools assist our recruitment team but do not replace human judgment. Final hiring decisions are ultimately made by humans.
