Job description

Job Description

AltaGas - HRIS Analyst

AltaGas is looking for an HRIS Analyst to join our broader HR Operations team and help support, enhance, and evolve our Workday environment. In this role, you will work across HR and the wider organization to support system maintenance, process improvement, enhancements, documentation, and key business cycles throughout the year.

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys solving problems, building better ways of working, and being part of a team that is closely connected to transformational HR projects. The work is a mix of maintaining and supporting Workday, improving and optimizing existing processes, and helping build new solutions and enhancements. You will be joining a well-rounded team where collaboration, curiosity, and the ability to build strong relationships are key to success.

What You'll Do

  • Support and maintain Workday across multiple HRIS functional areas, helping ensure the system continues to meet the needs of HR and the broader business

  • Act as a key contributor in building foundational Workday architecture, including end-to-end employee lifecycle processes

  • Analyze the impact of system changes across Workday modules, including business processes, reports, calculated fields, security, workbooks, and documentation

  • Configure Workday business processes, including notifications, condition and validation rules, related documents, EIBs, and related system elements

  • Identify opportunities to simplify, enhance, and optimize existing processes in alignment with the HRIS roadmap

  • Support quarterly Workday releases, including testing, validation, and performance analysis

  • Document business requirements in a standardized way and create process documentation following HRIS changes or improvements

  • Monitor the HRIS mailbox, respond to internal and external customers, troubleshoot issues, and help resolve inquiries in a timely manner

  • Partner with HR, Digital, Payroll, Finance, functional leads, and other stakeholders to translate business needs into technical requirements and implement scalable Workday solutions

What You'll Bring

  • 2+ years of HRIS Workday experience in with exposure to Core HCM, Absence Management, Compensation, Benefits, or Talent modules considered an asset

  • Intermediate Excel skills, including experience working with large data sets

  • A strong understanding of HR functional areas and how HR processes connect into HRIS systems

  • Experience troubleshooting end-user and system interface issues within a mid- to large-sized organization

  • Strong research, problem-solving, time management, communication, and customer service skills

  • A self-starter mindset, with the ability to follow work through from start to finish

  • A collaborative approach and the ability to work well in a team environment

  • Curiosity, adaptability, and comfort working through ambiguity

  • You may not always have perfect documentation or a fully mapped-out path, so success in this role will come from being willing to ask questions, investigate, build relationships, and figure things out as you go

  • A bachelor's degree in business information systems, human resources, or a related field

Why Join AltaGas?

Join a team where the work you do is valued and directly supports enterprise-wide transformation initiatives. You'll have the opportunity to influence the future of HR technology, tackle meaningful challenges, and work alongside a supportive and well-rounded team that genuinely enjoys collaborating and solving problems together. If you're excited by continuous improvement and building better ways of working, we'd love to hear from you.
