General Description: 
Under the general supervision of the HIM Operations Manager, the Information Integrity Specialist is responsible for ensuring and improving data integrity in the electronic medical record. The information Integrity Specialist ensures all documents are entered in the correct account in a timely manner and assigned the correct form of ID. The information Integrity Specialist analyzes the entire medical record for completion, accuracy, and compliance with Joint Commission, Medical Staff and Regulations, and other regulatory standards. The position shall exemplify the desired Culture of Choice® and philosophies of Parrish Healthcare.
 Key Responsibilities: 
  1. Retrieves medical record documentation from all areas and prepares documentation for scanning and archiving by organizing and disseminating documents that do not belong in the chart. 
  2. Scans all medical records, verifies that the acceptable image quality is produced and ensures all documents are assigned the correct form of ID and filed into the correct account. 
  3. Analyzes the entire medical record for completion, accuracy, and compliance with Joint Commission, Medical Staff Rules and Regulations, and other regulatory standards. 
  4. Identifies, tracks, and analyzes trends and issues with medical record documentation and presents to appropriate parties. 
  5. Performs Quality Control reviews on scanned documents to ensure all documents were scanned into the record.
  6. Tracks destroyed records and logs appropriately in order to remain in compliance with retention and destruction regulations.
  7. Performs all duties as assigned.  
  8. Knows fire, disaster and safety procedures and regulations as it pertains to the work area.
Requirements:

Formal Education:
  •  Associates degree preferred. Degree/Major preferred: health information management informatics, or related healthcare technology field. 
Work Experience:
  •  1 year to < 2 years
Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations:
  •  Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or other AHIMA credentials are preferred.
