This is an Atlanta based position that will require a once/month onsite staff meeting and roughly 30% of time with onsite visits for either project based work or supporting Epic go-lives.


The Clinical Informatics Specialist II will independently champion and provide guidance for the on-going development, advancement and optimization of clinical systems and technology that impact patient care and business operations throughout the organization. The Clinical Informatics Specialist II is knowledgeable about the clinical processes, relevant regulatory mandates, and principles of quality/safety improvement in their clinical area of focus. At this level, the Specialist is not only an expert in core technologies within their area of focus but also knowledgeable about workflows and applications that support core focus area.  This is a customer/front facing role geared towards workflows and understanding how the system works both on the front end and behind the scenes.  

This is an Atlanta based position that will require an onsite staff meeting once/month and roughly 30% of time with onsite visits for either project based work or supporting Epic go-lives.  This candidate will be supporting our acute care org as well as quality initiatives such as mortality rates.  

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead clinical informatics projects to ensure they are planned and implemented using evidence-based practices for planning, understanding, guiding and delivering responsible and efficient patient care.
  • Serves as an Informatics leader that bridges the gap between people, processes, clinical knowledge and technology.
  • Document specifications that will translate into development of tools, reports, and systems that support organizational business needs.
  • Utilize the SBAR process to plan recommendations for informatics solutions.
  • Ensures workflows/process is current with regulatory agencies and best practice standards.
  • Identifies changes to system to comply with policies and procedures in the most efficient manner.
  • Utilize data to drive process, workflow and behavior change as it relates to appropriate and efficient use of electronic medical records (EMR) and other clinical technology.
  • Serves as a resource to end users for information systems and technology; effectively communicate system changes, workflow process changes, downtime procedures, etc.
  • Participates in the production and distribution of communications related to technology through active internal networking, clinical liaison role, newsletters, announcements and other technology-based mechanisms to health professionals.
  • Routinely conduct intentional rounding in patient care areas to gain overall knowledge of facility specific workflow, patient throughput, and challenges with technology solutions.
  • Monitors outcome and evaluates user adoption of current and newly implemented information technology and functionality.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-graduate degree in Nursing Informatics, Health Informatics, or related fields. In lieu of post-graduate degree in Informatics, clinical background, post-graduate degree, and 1 year of Informatics experience is sufficient.
  • Four years of Clinical/Nursing/Health Informatics experience required with direct experience in Epic application(s) preferred.
  • Completion of EPIC Clinical Content Builder series of classes and certification or badges related to workflows and applications that support their core area of focus within first 12 months or longer with approval from Sr. Manager.
  • Professional Informatics certification (ANCC, AMIA 10x10, etc) required within 12 months of hire if Masters degree is not in Informatics.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • It is a core requirement that the candidate will have worked in some type of clinical role at some point in their career (i.e. nursing, physical therapy, respiratory, etc.) as well as have worked in a Clinical Informatics position to be able to transition into the required work.
  • Master's Degree in Informatics
  • EPIC Certification
