Job description

Overview

Under direction, to perform work developing, analyzing, maintaining and implementing the EPIC EMRย system software within the Healthcare Organization.

Responsibilities

PRINCIPLE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (*Essential Functions)

  • Analyze and prioritize requests for system changes/enhancements, including requirements gathering.ย  Identify potential problem areas and recommendย processes and/or system improvements.
  • Assures proper change control and documentation for upgrades and system modifications.ย  This includes documentation of actions in release notes and coordination with other teams as necessary.
  • Effectively works as a team member to ensure quality of integration across system applications. This includes working with vendors/third party entities that need to be integrated with the Epic product.
  • Ensure programs and related components are continuously reliable, available and function as required.
  • Investigate user problems and needs, identify their source, determine/implement solutions and document resolutions for future reference.ย  This includes working on multiple-disciplinary teams to develop solutions.
  • Document system and business requirements.ย  Create test plans and scripts for system and user acceptance testing.ย  Assist with and document the development of new operational procedures.
  • Participate in the development, implementation and testing of application software, specifically those that interact with the Epic system.
  • Provide guidance and support for ongoing training.ย  Participate in the development and implementation of training materials.
  • Qualifications

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS (Minimum Requirements)KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

    • Knowledge of hardware and software applications.
    • Participate in development; implementation and testing of application software, specifically those associated or that interact with the Epic EMR.
    • Participate in the development; implementation and testing of application software, specifically theย Epic modules.
    • Must be highly motivated and exhibit the interpersonal skills necessary to achieve results through coordinating efforts with others in a collaborative manner.ย  Team player with all applications with a "can-do" attitude.
    • Ability to mentor, trains, and teach others.
    • Must be able to deal with stressful situations effectively.
    • Demonstrates courteous, kind, caring, and compassionate behavior and projects a positive attitude to support organization.

    EDUCATION

    All post high school education must have been obtained from a recognized College or University.ย  Additional education or experience may be substituted requirements on a year for year basis should the substitution not conflict with State or Board certification/license requirements. ย 

    • Associates degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field Required
    • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, or a closely related field Preferred

    EXPERIENCE

    • 1 year experience in Healthcare Informatics preferred.
    • Prior experience or proficiency with EPIC application software is preferred.
    • Must achieve EPIC proficiency within the first six (6) months of hire date.
