How much do entry level gym jobs pay per year?

As of Jul 8, 2026, the average yearly pay for entry level gym in the United States is $41,468.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $31,500.00 and $47,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

Is $400 a month a lot for a personal trainer?

For an entry-level gym position, earning $400 a month is generally considered low, as personal trainers often charge clients hourly rates ranging from $20 to $100 or more, and trainers typically work on a commission or salary basis. The actual income depends on factors like location, certifications, experience, and client base, with many trainers earning significantly more as they gain experience and build their clientele.

What is the difference between Entry Level Gym vs Personal Trainer?

AspectEntry Level GymPersonal Trainer
CertificationsBasic gym certifications or noneCertified Personal Trainer (CPT) certification required
Work EnvironmentGeneral gym setting, assisting membersOne-on-one client sessions, personalized training

While an Entry Level Gym role involves supporting gym operations and assisting members, a Personal Trainer provides personalized fitness coaching and requires specific certifications. The roles differ mainly in responsibilities and certification requirements, with personal trainers offering specialized services beyond general gym support.

Can I work in a gym with no experience?

Entry level gym positions, such as front desk staff or cleaning roles, often do not require prior experience. However, some roles like personal training or coaching may require certifications or specific skills, and on-the-job training is common for new employees.

How to start a career in the gym?

Starting a career as an entry-level gym employee typically involves obtaining relevant certifications such as CPR and fitness instructor certifications, gaining knowledge of exercise techniques, and demonstrating good communication skills. Many positions require a high school diploma or equivalent, and some employers prefer prior experience or a fitness-related background. Entry-level roles often include duties like assisting clients, maintaining equipment, and supporting gym operations, with opportunities for advancement through experience and additional certifications.

What jobs pay 4000 a week without a degree?

Entry-level gym jobs typically do not pay $4,000 a week; high earnings in the fitness industry usually come from experienced personal trainers or gym owners who may earn that amount through client sessions, commissions, or business ownership. Most roles at the entry level focus on assisting with fitness classes or maintenance and do not offer such high weekly pay without significant experience or additional certifications.
