Purpose of Role

The entry-level Graphic Designer is responsible for collaborating with university constituents to design, create, and modify marketing materials and collateral that consistently communicate the Daemen University brand to prospective students and families, internal constituents, and external stakeholders. This position supports the Marketing and Communications team in producing high-quality visual assets across print, digital, and social media platforms. In addition to design work, the entry-level Graphic Designer contributes to content creation by capturing and editing photo and short-form video content-using a mirrorless or DSLR camera or mobile device-for use across institutional social media channels.

The entry-level Graphic Designer must be able to take projects from concept to completion by developing creative ideas, incorporating feedback, adhering to brand guidelines, and delivering accurate, high-quality work within established timelines. This role requires flexibility, adaptability, and the ability to manage a variety of creative tasks in a fast-paced environment.

About This Opportunity

Branding and Design

  • Collaborate with university colleagues to develop creative concepts tailored to project goals in accordance with the Daemen University brand
  • Design and produce a wide range of materials, including print collateral, digital graphics, and social media assets
  • Ensure consistency and accuracy in all deliverables while adhering to established brand guidelines
  • Process constructive feedback from colleagues and revise designs accordingly, maintaining attention to detail throughout all stages of production
  • Assist in maintaining organized digital files, including proper naming conventions and file storage

Content Creation and Social Media Support

  • Capture photo and short-form video content, using a mirrorless or DSLR camera or mobile device using a mobile device, for use on social media platforms
  • Edit photos and basic video content to support digital campaigns and institutional storytelling Assist in creating engaging, timely content aligned with marketing initiatives

Collaboration and Workflow

  • Work directly with the Associate Director of Visual Communication on assigned projects
  • Collaborate with university partners to understand creative support needs and deliver effective solutions
  • Assist with managing project timelines and balancing multiple assignments simultaneously, often through Asana platform
  • Support photo archive organization and asset management systems

General Expectations

  • Deliver high-quality work that is accurate, timely, and aligned with brand standards
  • Demonstrate flexibility and a positive, solutions-oriented attitude
  • Be adaptable and willing to take on a variety of creative tasks as needed
  • Work in office 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday
  • Support occasional evening or weekend work for campus events when required

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or a related field required
  • Portfolio demonstrating creativity, technical skills, and attention to detail is required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with photography and photo editing
  • Basic video editing experience (short-form/social content)
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, trends, and posting social content
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Total Compensation

Daemen University offers a robust total compensation package that includes:

  • Health insurance with an option of two plans: an HSA plan with the deductible funded by employer HSA contributions, or a copay plan.
  • Dental insurance through the Guardian network.
