Job Summary
The Billing Clerk supports the billing and accounting function in a government contracting environment. This entry-level position is responsible for assisting with invoice preparation, maintaining accurate billing records, and supporting compliance with contract requirements. The Billing Clerk will work closely with accounting and project teams and receive training on Deltek Costpoint and government billing practices.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with preparing and processing customer invoices using Deltek Costpoint
  • Review billing data for accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation
  • Support billing for government contracts, including cost-plus, time & materials, and fixed-price contracts
  • Help ensure invoices comply with contract terms, funding limits, and company policies
  • Track billed and unbilled amounts and assist with basic account reconciliations
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries related to invoices and billing status
  • Maintain organized billing files and electronic records
  • Assist with month-end billing activities and reporting
  • Support audit requests by gathering billing documentation as needed
  • Follow established procedures to maintain DCAA-compliant billing practices

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework in accounting, finance, or business preferred
  • 0-2 years of experience in billing, accounting, or an administrative role
  • Exposure to or interest in government contracting strongly preferred
  • Experience with Deltek Costpoint is a plus, but training may be provided
  • Basic proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
