We partner with Colleges and Universities (whom we call Clients), offering five distinct products and services to support their Staff and Students (whom we call Customers) so that they can focus on education and development. From supporting our unique approach to course materials as a subscription, to running Mail and Print services, to selling general merchandise in the Campus Store and online, this position will interact with almost every aspect of Slingshot.

Team Description

The Strategic Operations Department is a cross-functional team that supports Slingshot operations in a variety of vital ways. This department works alongside different internal departments during their peak seasons, takes on special projects that promote the company’s health and scalability, and drives continuous operational improvement. A core part of the journey for people on this team is personal and professional growth, preparing Colleagues for future opportunities of advancement as Slingshot continues to rapidly expand.

Position Overview

The AI Enablement Specialist serves as a trusted internal coach, educator, and bridge between emerging artificial intelligence technology, specifically Google Gemini, and Slingshot’s daily operational workflows. This role is not about writing complex code or developing software from scratch rather, it focuses on human empowerment and operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate is a teacher and coach at heart. Someone who is technically curious, highly approachable, and possessing the warmth and patience that makes people want to learn from them. Whether sitting down with an entry-level Colleague to automate a routine data entry task or collaborating with an executive to optimize their email and calendar management, the AI Enablement Specialist builds trust, demystifies AI tools, and fosters a culture of innovation across the organization.

Key Responsibilities & DutiesOne-on-One Coaching
  • Conduct personalized, one-on-one coaching sessions with Colleagues across various departments to identify daily operational bottlenecks and friction points.
  • Guide Colleagues on how to utilize Google Gemini to assist with data formatting, text summarization, customer communication drafting, spreadsheet organization, and so on.
  • Provide patient and tailored support that adapts to each Colleague's individual technical comfort level.
  • Collaborate directly with executives, directors, and department managers to design customized AI workflows.
  • Demonstrate advanced prompting techniques in Google Gemini for synthesizing lengthy reports, managing high-volume email correspondence, and preparing meeting summaries and agendas.
Company-Wide Training & Content Creation
  • Produce engaging video tutorials and screen recordings demonstrating practical, day-to-day use cases for Google Gemini within Slingshot.
  • Author clear, step-by-step written documentation, standard operating procedures, and quick-reference "cheat sheets" for AI tools.
  • Host live interactive workshops, Q&A "office hours," and lunch-and-learn sessions to share new AI features and celebrate internal success stories.
Workflow Discovery & Prompt Engineering Library
  • Shadow key operational teams (such as Logistics, Procurement, Print Hub, Customer Support, and Procurement) to actively uncover repetitive tasks ripe for AI assistance.
  • Develop, test, and maintain an internal "Prompt Library"—a curated collection of standardized, highly effective Google Gemini prompts tailored specifically to Slingshot's business processes.
  • Partner with data analysts and IT Colleagues to ensure all AI utilization adheres to strict data privacy and security guidelines.
Expectations & Working Environment
  • Work Hours: Work hours will average 40 hours per week. This role requires working  at our Marion, Indiana office most days. In-person interaction is essential for building rapport, trust, and conducting effective hands-on coaching. Remote work is the exception rather than the norm.
  • Flexibility & Humility: Exhibit flexibility in daily tasks and humility in service. No question is too basic, and no operational task is too small.
  • Continuous Curiosity: Proactively dedicate time each week to staying current on Google Gemini feature releases, Google Workspace updates, and general AI industry advancements.
  • Embrace Change: Thrive in an evolving environment, actively challenging the status quo while supporting Colleagues through the emotional and technical journey of adopting new tools.
  • Cross-Departmental Collaboration: Report directly to the Director of Strategic Operations while working seamlessly across all internal teams and respecting individual departmental cultures.
Qualifications
  • Google Workspace Proficiency: Advanced practical knowledge of Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive) and working familiarity with Google Gemini or similar generative AI tools.
  • AI Proficiency: Proven ability to use AI tools in both professional and personal applications to enhance productivity.
  • Teaching & Coaching Aptitude: Proven ability to translate technical concepts into simple, engaging, and practical terms for non-technical audiences.
  • Trust & Relationship Building: High emotional intelligence and interpersonal warmth. Someone whom Colleagues naturally trust, confide in, and seek out for guidance.
  • Problem-Solving Mindset: Strong analytical skills with an appetite for understanding operational workflows and finding creative efficiency improvements.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in Education, Corporate Training, Business Operations, or Information Technology.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have)
  • Familiarity with data manipulation in Excel/Google Sheets (e.g., XLOOKUP, pivot tables) or basic prompt engineering frameworks.
Benefits & Career Growth
  • Health Coverage: Employer contribution towards comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Paid Time Off: Full-time Colleagues start with a total of 3 weeks (15 days) of paid time off at the start of the calendar year (pro-rated during the first year based on start date).
  • Retirement Savings: Company-matched 401(k) retirement plan.
  • Career Advancement: This position is specifically designed to invest in Colleagues so they can grow professionally and advance into leadership or specialized roles as Slingshot continues to scale.
