Nature of Work: The primary function of an Information Systems Technician is to provide basic computerized information system helpdesk support and training for users of computer systems.
Helpdesk support for department staff includes: computer installation, maintenance and repair work, responding to user requests for assistance, documenting and tracking system problems. Ideal Candidate: In addition to the requisite skills and knowledge, the ideal candidate is reliable, provides courteous, respectful, and professional customer service, and has the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all persons contacted during the course of work; communicates clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; analyzes user problems, evaluates alternatives, and reaches sound conclusions; has the ability to write and maintain logs of work performed and actions taken to solve information system problems in a clear and concise manner; works cooperatively as a part of a team and with partner agencies and vendors; listens attentively and understands oral information provided; and is able to prioritize, plan and organize one's own work and coordinate workflow to meet production deadlines. Examples of Duties Typical duties of an Information Systems Technician include: Act as a resource person for users by answering questions either by phone or in person and resolving problems related to the use, application and operation of automated information systems. Set up, monitors, install and repair computer hardware and install software. Assist in writing procedures, instructional materials and staff development tools for system related training; train system users on hardware and software usage.

Education, Experience & Licenses Minimum Qualifications: One (1) year full-time experience or formal education/training in the operation of computers and peripheral equipment in an information systems environment that includes the troubleshooting of personal computer hardware, software and peripheral equipment problems.
License & Special Requirements: A valid California Class C driver's license or alternative form of transportation may be required for some positions at the time of appointment. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to a disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Recruitment Information The department is currently recruiting for one (1) vacancy.
In addition, Tehama County is establishing an eligibility list to fill future vacancies for an Information Systems Technician or an Information Systems Technician - Bilingual, as well as subsequent vacancies, which occur during the life of the eligibility list. New employees should anticipate being hired at the beginning step of the salary range. Candidates who exceed entry level qualifications may be considered, with approval from the Board of Supervisors, for placement at other than A step.
